Eighty to 100 children aged up to 14 develop cancer in Armenia and thirty to forty of them die annually Professor Gagik Bazikyan, Deputy Director of the Armenian Center of Oncology, told journalists on the occasion of the International Childhood Cancer Day, February 15.

He reported that 7,500 new cancer cases are registered in Armenia yearly. Prof. Bazikyan pointed out that doctors manage to control cancer development in 50% of cases. However, the other half of patients turn to doctors too late.

"The disease can be treated in 90% if patients turn to doctors in time," Bazikyan said.
